Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha
He who does not love Me does not keep My words, and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I
John 14:24-28
Obedience as an Expression of Love:
Jesus begins by emphasizing the connection between love and obedience. True love for Him is evidenced by keeping His words. The commandments He imparts are not His alone but are the very words of the Father who sent Him. Obedience, therefore, becomes a genuine expression of love and devotion to God.
The Promise of the Holy Spirit:
Amidst the uncertainty of Jesus’ impending departure, He assures His disciples of the coming Helper, the Holy Spirit. This divine Counselor will not only teach them but also bring to remembrance all that Jesus had spoken. The Holy Spirit becomes the guiding presence, ensuring that the disciples are equipped with divine wisdom and understanding.
The Gift of Peace:
Jesus leaves His disciples with a remarkable gift – His peace. This peace transcends worldly understanding and circumstances. It is a peace grounded in the assurance of God’s sovereignty and the redemptive work of Christ. In the face of troubles and fears, Jesus encourages His followers to hold onto this divine peace, reminding them that He is going to the Father, who is greater than all.
Today’s Blessings:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the promise of the Holy Spirit, my divine Helper and Teacher. May my love for You be evident in my obedience to Your Word. Grant me the peace that surpasses understanding, the peace that Jesus has given me. In moments of trouble and fear, help me to anchor my heart in the assurance that You are greater than any challenge I face. I rejoice in Your sovereignty and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
