Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha
If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1 John 1:6-10
Living in Truth and Fellowship:
In these verses, John challenges us to live authentically, acknowledging our sins and walking in the light of God’s truth. Claiming fellowship with God while persisting in darkness is hypocrisy. To truly experience fellowship with God and with one another, we must embrace the honesty of our shortcomings and live transparently in His light. It is in this light that our sins are exposed and dealt with through the cleansing power of Christ’s blood.
Confession and Forgiveness:
John reminds us that denying our sins is self-deception. However, when we confess our sins, God’s faithfulness and justice come into play. Confession opens the door to forgiveness and cleansing. God is not only merciful but also just; He forgives us when we genuinely repent and turn away from our sins. Confession allows us to experience the freedom and restoration that come from God’s gracious forgiveness.
Honesty and Humility:
To maintain a genuine relationship with God, we must approach Him with honesty and humility. Admitting our sins requires humility, acknowledging our need for God’s mercy. It is through this humility that we receive God’s grace and experience His transformative power in our lives. Walking in the light means living truthfully before God and others, with the assurance that God’s forgiveness and cleansing are always available to those who come to Him in repentance.
Today’s Blessings:

Grant us the courage to confess our sins, knowing that You are faithful and just to forgive us. May our lives be a testimony to Your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
