Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 3:16-17
Love That Sacrifices:
In these iconic verses, we encounter the essence of the Christian message – the boundless love of God. The depth of this love is illustrated through the sacrificial act of giving His only begotten Son. This love is not passive or theoretical; it’s an active, selfless, and sacrificial love that seeks the eternal well-being of humanity.
The Gift of Eternal Life:
The purpose of God’s love is vividly expressed: that whoever believes in His Son will not perish but have everlasting life. The gift of eternal life is not earned but received through faith. This eternal life is not just a prolonged existence; it’s a quality of life rooted in a relationship with the Creator, characterized by love, grace, and communion.
Salvation, Not Condemnation:
Verse 17 complements the message of love with a clarifying statement about the mission of Jesus. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it but to save it. Jesus’ purpose was not to bring judgment but to offer salvation. This emphasizes the redemptive nature of God’s plan, demonstrating His desire for reconciliation rather than condemnation.
