Trusting His Unchanging Word
In the 1980s, a Christian woman in Eastern Europe risked her life to hide and distribute Bibles under an oppressive regime. She once said, “I can take these risks because I know God will never break His Word. If He promises, He will do it.” Her faith reflected the unshakable truth spoken through the prophet Balaam in the book of Numbers.
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)
Reflection:
People break promises, sometimes out of weakness, sometimes out of forgetfulness, and sometimes by choice. But God is different. He is perfect in truth, unchanging in character, and faithful in action.
When God speaks, His Word is as good as done. Even if circumstances seem to contradict His promises, His integrity never wavers.
This truth is an anchor for our souls. We can rest tonight knowing that our God does not lie, and His promises will always stand.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You are faithful and true. Help me to trust Your Word completely, even when my circumstances are uncertain. Let my confidence rest not in people, but in Your unchanging character. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Recall a Promise: Write down a Bible promise you’re holding onto and thank God for it tonight.
- Release Fear: Replace one anxious thought with a declaration of God’s truth before you sleep.
- Encourage Faith: Share Numbers 23:19 with someone who needs assurance of God’s reliability.
