Choosing Whom You Will Serve
In a small town, a family was known for faithfully gathering at the dinner table each night to pray before eating. Neighbors noticed their consistency and asked the father why they never skipped. He smiled and said, “Because if my children see me choose God daily, they’ll know who the true King of our home is.”
Joshua made a similar declaration to Israel:
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Every home serves something, whether it’s money, success, comfort, or God. Joshua challenged Israel to make a deliberate choice. The same challenge stands for us today.
Serving God isn’t just a Sunday commitment, it’s a daily decision to let His Word guide our actions, relationships, and priorities. When we lead our families in serving the Lord, we set a legacy of faith that can echo for generations.
Prayer:
Lord, I choose You today. Let my home be a place where Your name is honored, Your Word is obeyed, and Your love is shown. Strengthen me to lead my family in serving You wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Declare Your Choice: Say out loud, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
- Family Devotion: Gather your household tonight for prayer and a short Bible reading.
- Set a Visible Reminder: Place a Scripture verse in your home as a daily reminder of your commitment.
