True Wisdom Beyond the World
In 1873, the great evangelist D.L. Moody visited Cambridge University to preach to some of the brightest students in England. Many mocked him for his simple speech and lack of formal education. But as he preached the message of Christ crucified, hearts were convicted, and several students, including future missionaries, surrendered to Christ. What the world dismissed as “foolish” became the very power of God for salvation.
The Apostle Paul said it clearly:
“But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:23–24 (NKJV)
Reflection:
The gospel has never fit neatly into human categories. To some, it seems too simple; to others, too offensive. Yet in reality, it is the greatest display of God’s wisdom and power.
You don’t need eloquence or intellectual brilliance to change lives; you need Christ. The cross may appear weak, but it holds more power than all human wisdom combined. When you stand on Christ, you are standing on God’s eternal wisdom.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the cross. What the world sees as foolishness, I see as my salvation. Help me to trust Your wisdom over my own understanding and to boldly declare that You are the power of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Boast in the Cross: Share one way Christ has transformed your life with someone today.
- Rely on His Wisdom: Ask God for guidance in one area where you feel weak or confused.
- Pray for Boldness: Like Paul, pray for courage to proclaim Christ without shame.
