God Defends His People
In World War II, many small nations feared being crushed by powerful enemies. Yet time and again, history shows how God can raise up deliverance when His people call on Him. The prophet Obadiah carried a similar message of hope to Israel when they felt overshadowed by their enemies.
“But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance,
And there shall be holiness;
The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”
Obadiah 1:17 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Though Israel had been oppressed and betrayed, God promised restoration. Obadiah reminds us that God is sovereign, and no enemy is too strong for Him to overthrow. Deliverance and holiness belong to the Lord.
Even when we feel powerless, God is our defender. What is lost can be restored, and what the enemy tries to steal, God can return.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You are my Deliverer. When I feel surrounded, remind me that You fight for me. Restore what has been lost, and teach me to walk in holiness as Your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Reflect: Where do you need God’s deliverance today?
- Declare Hope: Speak Obadiah 1:17 over your situation in faith.
- Encourage Another: Share this verse with someone who feels defeated.
