Freedom from Bondage
D. L. Moody often reminded believers of God’s power to deliver. He once said: “God never made a promise that was too good to be true.” His preaching carried hope to countless people trapped in addictions and sin, showing them that God is still a Deliverer.
Exodus reminds us of that very truth in Israel’s story:
“And the Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them…’”
Exodus 3:7–8 (NKJV)
Reflection:
The Israelites were slaves in Egypt, but God saw, heard, and acted. Their deliverance was not because of their strength, but because of His mercy.
Moody’s ministry echoed this truth: no matter how deep the bondage, God’s hand is mighty to save. Whether the chains are physical, emotional, or spiritual, He is still the Deliverer.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You see my struggles and hear my cries. Thank You for sending Jesus, my Deliverer. Set me free from anything that holds me captive and help me walk in Your freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Identify: What “Egypt” or bondage is still holding you? Bring it to God in prayer.
- Trust: Meditate on Exodus 3:7–8 as your promise of God’s deliverance.
- Encourage: Share this verse with someone who needs freedom in Christ.
