Trusting in God’s Provision

Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Matthew 6:25-27

The Call to Release Worry:
In these verses, Jesus issues a profound call to release worry about the necessities of life. He encourages His followers not to be anxious about what they will eat, drink, or wear. The emphasis here is on redirecting our focus from material concerns to a deeper trust in God’s provision.

Learning from God’s Creation:
Jesus directs attention to the birds of the air as a tangible example of God’s provision. These creatures neither sow nor reap nor store food, yet their heavenly Father ensures they are fed. The lesson is clear: if God cares for the birds, how much more does He care for His children? It is a reminder of the value and importance each individual holds in God’s eyes.

The Futility of Worry:
Jesus poses a rhetorical question, highlighting the futility of worry. Worrying cannot add a single cubit to one’s stature. It serves no purpose and only hinders our ability to trust in God’s providence. Instead of worrying, Jesus invites us to trust in the Father’s care, recognizing that our needs are known and provided for by a loving and faithful God.

Today’s Blessings:
Heavenly Father, I come before You, acknowledging the tendency to worry about the necessities of life. Help me to release my anxieties and place my trust fully in Your provision. Teach me to learn from the birds of the air, recognizing Your care for them and understanding my greater value in Your eyes. May I cease worrying and, instead, find peace in trusting Your faithful and loving provision. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
