When You Feel Like Giving Up
A marathon runner once collapsed just a few meters before the finish line. He had trained for months, but his strength gave out. As he struggled to rise, his coach knelt beside him and whispered, “You don’t have to run alone.” With help, the runner rose, leaned on the coach, and finished the race.
“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Life can leave you drained spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Maybe tonight you feel like you’ve run out of strength. But Isaiah offers a promise, not a suggestion: those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength.
God is not calling you to live life on your own strength. He invites you to lean on His. Waiting on the Lord is not passive it’s trusting, hoping, and anchoring your soul in Him. And in that waiting, strength is exchanged. Weakness becomes power. Weariness becomes endurance. You don’t have to run alone.
Prayer:
Father, I come to You tonight tired maybe even exhausted. But I wait on You. Renew my strength. Lift me above the weariness of this world. Help me to run this race with endurance, trusting not in myself, but in You. Thank You for never letting go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Identify the area of your life where you feel most weary.
- Spend five quiet minutes tonight simply waiting on the Lord no noise, no distractions.
- Share Isaiah 40:31 with someone who may need a reminder that strength is on the way.
