Finding Safety in God’s Faithfulness
During a stormy night, a father carried his small daughter to safety as heavy rains flooded their village. The child clung to him, shivering but trusting, whispering, “Daddy, I know you won’t let me drown.” In the same way, God invites us to trust Him when life’s storms threaten to overwhelm us.
The prophet Nahum declared:
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”
Nahum 1:7 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Nahum’s prophecy came during a time when God’s people were threatened by powerful enemies. The Assyrians were cruel, and fear gripped many hearts. Yet, in the middle of judgment, God reminded His people of His goodness and faithfulness to those who trust in Him.
God does not promise a life free from trouble, but He promises to be our stronghold in the day of trouble. A stronghold is a place of safety, protection, and peace, even while battles rage outside.
When you feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, sickness, financial challenges, or family struggles, remember that God knows you by name. He sees your tears and hears your prayers. Run to Him and let Him be your refuge.
Like the child in the storm, whisper to your Father tonight, “I know You will not let me drown.”
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You are good, and You are my stronghold in times of trouble. Help me to trust You fully, knowing that You are my refuge and strength. I surrender every fear and every burden to You tonight. Thank You for watching over me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Before you sleep, write down one fear or burden you need to surrender to God.
- Spend a few quiet moments declaring God as your refuge and stronghold.
- Share Nahum 1:7 with someone who is going through a difficult time, reminding them of God’s faithfulness.
