Living Beyond Words
A woman once attended church every Sunday, spoke boldly about her faith, and knew the Scriptures well. Yet her neighbor, who was struggling, never once heard a kind word or received a helping hand. One day, the neighbor said, “If that’s what faith looks like, I’m not sure I want it.” The woman was heartbroken and convicted.
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17 (NKJV)
Reflection:
James doesn’t mince words. He challenges us to move beyond talk to live a faith that breathes, that acts, that shows. True faith produces fruit. It’s seen in compassion, generosity, humility, and service.
You’re not saved by works but if you are saved, your life will bear the evidence. Just as a tree is known by its fruit, your faith is known by your deeds.
Faith isn’t a feeling it’s a daily choice to love like Jesus, serve like Jesus, and shine like Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord, awaken my faith. Let it not be silent or stagnant. Help me walk in obedience, love those around me, and act in ways that reflect Your heart. May my life be a testimony to Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Look for one person today you can help not for applause, but from love.
- Ask God to show you where your faith needs action.
- Write down one way you’ll serve someone this week.
