Strength for the Journey
John Wesley once traveled on horseback through storms and poverty-stricken villages, often rejected and ridiculed. Yet he pressed on, preaching up to three times a day. His strength came not from comfort, but from the assurance that God’s presence was with him in every trial.
Israel also had to learn that lesson in the wilderness:
“The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes.”
Numbers 1:30 (NKJV)
Reflection:
The Israelites often doubted God in their wilderness journey, but He remained faithful. Just as He had delivered them from Egypt, He promised to guide and fight for them.
Wesley’s ministry showed the same truth—when the path is long and lonely, God’s presence sustains us. Your wilderness may look like unanswered prayers, financial struggles, or emotional battles. Yet the God who brought you this far will not abandon you now.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You never leave me, even in my wilderness moments. Strengthen my heart to trust You and remind me of all the victories You’ve already given. Help me walk with courage, knowing You fight for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Recall: Write down three past ways God has delivered you.
- Rest: Tonight, release your current burdens into His hands.
- Remind: Encourage a friend that God is fighting their battles too.
