Into the fellowship of His Son, our Lord

Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge,

1 Corinthians 1:4-5

Paul wrote saying God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

For it was declared to Paul concerning those who had caution about his ministry in Jesus Christ, dividing themselves and choosing who to follow, you may say “I am of Paul,” others “I am of Apollos,” others “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? No! Was Paul crucified for you? No! Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? No!

These questions were asked unto Paul as we see same questions being asked by those who don’t know Christ, others asking with ambition of passing the agenda of the devil but Paul said I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.

Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. Forget Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Today’s Prayer

God Almighty, give me strength and courage to pray for those around me who do not yet know your name. For those who need your word Lord, help me turn them towards the light. Help me not turn them away with condemnation, but do your work in spreading acceptance and benevolence. Grant me God, the generosity of spirit and the kindness of heart, to help grow your congregation. Give me all this, Lord, so that our voices may multiply in psalms of praise for your glory. Amen.
