Learning to Rejoice Always
Corrie ten Boom, after surviving a Nazi concentration camp, faced a life of pain and loss. Yet she chose joy. When asked how she could rejoice despite suffering, she said, “Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.” Her life was a testament that joy isn’t dependent on circumstances, it flows from a heart anchored in Christ.
Paul writes to the church in Philippi, encouraging them, and us to live with unshakeable joy:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
Philippians 4:4 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Paul was writing from prison, yet his letter overflows with joy. How could he rejoice while chained and isolated? Because his joy was not based on comfort or freedom, but on his relationship with Jesus.
Joy is a choice, a command even, rooted in faith and hope. It doesn’t ignore pain; it transcends it.
When we face trials, we can choose to lean on Christ and rejoice in His presence. This joy becomes our strength and witness to a watching world.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, teach me to rejoice in You always—even when life is hard. Help me find joy not in my situation, but in Your unchanging love and presence. Fill me with Your peace and joy today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Count Your Joys: Write down three things you can rejoice in today, no matter how small.
- Rejoice Out Loud: Say “I will rejoice in the Lord” aloud at least three times today as a declaration of faith.
- Share Joy: Reach out to encourage someone who is struggling, sharing a verse or a word of hope.
