The Spirit Who Equips Us
In 1904, during the Welsh Revival, ordinary men and women were set on fire by the Holy Spirit. Taverns closed, crime dropped, and churches overflowed. It wasn’t human strength that brought revival; it was God’s Spirit moving through surrendered hearts.
The early church knew this same truth when Jesus gave His disciples a final promise before ascending into heaven:
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
Reflection:
The disciples were not the most qualified men, fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary people, but they were available. Jesus didn’t ask them to rely on their own strength. He promised them the Holy Spirit.
The same Spirit who empowered Peter to preach, Paul to endure, and Stephen to stand in faith, dwells in every believer today. You don’t walk into your workplace, school, or home alone—you carry the presence and power of God with you.
The world doesn’t just need more talent, charisma, or strategy, it needs Spirit-filled witnesses. And that includes you.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Fill me afresh today with Your power. Help me to live boldly for You, not in my own strength, but in the strength of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Pray for Filling: Begin your day by asking the Holy Spirit to fill and guide you.
- Be a Witness: Share one truth about Jesus with someone today, through word or deed.
- Trust the Spirit: In a difficult moment, pause and whisper: “Holy Spirit, help me.”
