More Than Words
A young girl once asked her father, “How do you know someone really loves you?” He thought for a moment and said, “When their actions match their words. Anyone can say ‘I love you,’ but true love always shows itself.” Years later, she would remember those words as she saw her father sacrifice and serve without complaint.
“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:18 (NKJV)
Reflection:
The apostle John calls us to a love that isn’t just spoken it’s lived. In a world full of empty promises and shallow expressions, true Christian love is measured by action. It’s how we treat others, how we serve, forgive, give, and stand beside those in need.
Jesus didn’t just say He loved us He proved it on the cross. Now, as His followers, we are to reflect that same sacrificial love in everyday life. Whether through a kind word, a quiet act of generosity, or simply showing up for someone, love becomes real when it costs us something.
Ask yourself this morning: Who can I love in deed and truth today?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me with a love that is pure and proven. Teach me to love others not just with words but with action. Help me to see the needs around me and respond with compassion, just as You have done for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Find one way today to love someone through action serve, give, or encourage.
- Reflect on whether your life reflects the love of Christ in truth and deed.
- Memorize 1 John 3:18 and let it shape how you live this week.
