God’s Power in Unlikely Places
In 1912, when the Titanic was being built, it was famously claimed to be “unsinkable.” Engineers, newspapers, and passengers alike placed their confidence in human design. But in a single night, that pride was shattered. The message was clear: human wisdom has limits.
Paul, writing to the Corinthians, people impressed by Greek philosophy and human intellect, offers a sobering and hopeful truth:
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
1 Corinthians 1:25 (NKJV)
Reflection:
God’s ways are not our ways. He chose a rugged cross instead of a royal throne. He chose fishermen and tax collectors instead of scholars and statesmen. Why? So no flesh could glory in His presence.
We often rely on human strength, talent, and logic to solve spiritual problems, but God’s power operates beyond our understanding. What seems foolish to the world, faith, prayer, and surrender, is the very path to divine victory.
God uses what’s weak to shame the strong. He speaks through the humble. He saves through grace. His “foolishness” is our salvation. His “weakness” is our greatest strength.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for confounding the wisdom of this world through the power of Your love and grace. Teach me to trust not in my own understanding, but to rest in the wisdom of Your Word. Use my weakness for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Let Go of Logic: Submit one area where you’ve been relying on human strength to God in prayer.
- Walk by Faith: Take one small step today that requires trust in God’s promises—not just your plans.
- Share Truth: Encourage someone who feels inadequate that God often uses what seems “foolish” to accomplish the miraculous.
