Peace in the Midst of Trouble
During World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her family helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust. They were eventually captured and sent to a concentration camp. In the depths of that horror, Corrie clung to one truth: God was still her refuge—even there.
The prophet Nahum, in a time of great oppression, boldly declared:
“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”
Nahum 1:7 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Nahum’s words are a beacon of hope in dark times. He wrote them during Nineveh’s looming judgment, yet in the middle of chaos and destruction, he pointed to the unshakable character of God.
God is good even when circumstances are not. He is a stronghold when everything around us collapses. And most beautifully, He knows those who trust Him. This is not mere awareness; it’s the deep, intimate knowledge of a Father watching over His child.
Are you facing trials tonight? God sees you. Are your circumstances overwhelming? He remains your refuge. You are not forgotten, and you are not alone.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my stronghold in every storm. I trust in Your goodness even when I don’t understand the situation around me. Help me to rest in the truth that You know me and are with me. Give me peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- List Your Burdens: Write down the top three things troubling your heart and surrender them to God in prayer.
- Read Nahum 1: Reflect on the justice and mercy of God in the midst of judgment.
- Encourage Someone: Send a message to someone who is going through a hard time, remind them that the Lord is a stronghold.
