Finding Safety in His Arms
During World War II, a group of children in London were sent to the countryside to escape the bombings. One little boy, frightened and alone, clung to the kind farmer who took him in. When asked why he trusted the farmer so quickly, the boy replied, “Because he promised to take care of me, and I believe him.”
In Deuteronomy, Moses gives God’s people a similar assurance:
“The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms;
He will thrust out the enemy from before you,
And will say, ‘Destroy!’”
Deuteronomy 33:27 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Life often feels unsafe, uncertain news, personal loss, or spiritual battles. But for the believer, there is an unshakable truth: God Himself is our refuge. His arms never weaken, His protection never fails, and His presence never leaves.
Moses spoke these words to Israel as they stood on the edge of the Promised Land, facing enemies ahead. Just as God carried them, He will carry you, through dangers, storms, and trials.
You can rest tonight, knowing the arms that hold the universe are the same arms holding you.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength. When I feel afraid, help me to run into Your everlasting arms. Keep me secure in Your promises, and give me peace that no enemy can take away. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Name Your Refuge: Write down one way God has been your safe place in the past.
- Release the Fear: Before bed, pray about one thing you’ve been anxious about and give it to God.
- Encourage Another: Remind a friend or family member tonight that God’s everlasting arms are holding them.
