Leaning on God’s Wisdom
A mountaineer once told how he survived a dangerous climb. The fog was thick, the cliffs steep, and one wrong step could have meant death. “The only way I made it,” he said, “was by listening to the voice of my guide. Even when I couldn’t see, his voice led me safely.”
Life is full of foggy paths where our own understanding fails. But God gives us this timeless promise:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
Reflection:
We like to think we’re in control. But our wisdom has limits. The writer of Proverbs reminds us that true safety and success come not from leaning on ourselves, but from leaning fully on God.
Trusting God means surrendering the “why” questions, the “how” questions, and sometimes even the “when.” When we acknowledge Him, in prayer, in decisions, in daily life, He becomes our faithful Guide through the fog.
Prayer:
Father, tonight I surrender my ways to You. Forgive me for the times I have leaned on my own understanding. Teach me to trust You with all my heart, and lead me in the paths that bring life and peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Pray Before You Plan: Tomorrow, before making a decision, pause and ask God to guide you.
- Release Control: Write down one area where you’re tempted to rely on your own understanding, then give it to God.
- Share Wisdom: Encourage a friend by sharing Proverbs 3:5–6 with them today.
