The Power of the Holy Spirit for Today
In 1906, a revival broke out on Azusa Street in Los Angeles. It wasn’t led by scholars or celebrities, but by humble men and women who sought God with passion. They prayed, worshiped, and waited. And then, it happened: the Holy Spirit came upon them with power, shaking the room, changing their lives, and igniting a global missions movement that still touches the world today.
The early church had a similar beginning:
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Jesus didn’t leave His disciples with political influence or material wealth. He left them with something far greater the Holy Spirit. The same power that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in every believer who surrenders to Him.
This power isn’t just for preaching it’s for living. It gives courage to the timid, strength to the weak, and direction to the confused. It transforms ordinary people into bold witnesses, unashamed of the gospel.
The Holy Spirit still comes upon those who wait, pray, and hunger for more of God. Are you relying on your own strength today? Or are you daily depending on the Spirit to fill and lead you?
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I welcome You today. Fill me with Your power, guide my thoughts, purify my heart, and use me to be a witness of Christ in word and action. Let Your fire burn within me and light the way for others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Pray: Spend 10 minutes in quiet prayer asking God for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit.
- Read: Study Acts 1 and 2 to see how the Spirit transformed the early church.
- Share: Speak with someone today about your faith let the Holy Spirit lead the conversation.
