Worshiping God When It Doesn’t Make Sense
A farmer once stood beside his dry, cracked fields during a severe drought. With tears in his eyes, he lifted his hands toward the sky and sang a hymn of praise. When asked how he could sing in such loss, he replied, “God is still good, even in this drought.”
Habakkuk, facing devastation, declared:
“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Habakkuk 3:18 (NKJV)
Reflection:
Habakkuk’s world was falling apart. There was fear of invasion, economic collapse, and visible hopelessness. Yet in the final verses of his book, he chose worship over worry.
This is one of the most radical acts of faith: praising God when there seems to be no visible reason to praise.
The world tells us to rejoice when circumstances are good. But God calls us to a deeper faith that chooses joy even in pain, because He is our unchanging salvation and strength.
Your circumstances may be dry and barren, but your God is alive. He sees, He knows, and He holds your future. Worship is not denying pain; it is declaring that God is greater than pain.
Tonight, lay down your fears and thank God for His faithfulness, even if your situation hasn’t changed. Let worship rise in your room, your heart, and your family, declaring that God is your salvation regardless of what tomorrow holds.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in every season. Help me to rejoice in You even when I don’t understand what is happening around me. Teach my heart to trust You and find joy in Your salvation. I choose to praise You tonight, knowing You are working all things for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge:
- Write down three things you can thank God for, even in your current challenges.
- Spend a few minutes in worship before sleeping, singing or praying words of praise.
- Share Habakkuk 3:18 with someone who feels overwhelmed, reminding them of hope in God.
