Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha

Evang Ps. Kenneth Nandoha

Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him.’ The centurion answered and said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, “Go,” and he goes; and to another, “Come,” and he comes; and to my servant, “Do this,” and he does it.’ When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

Matthew 8:5-13

A Centurion’s Humble Plea:
In Capernaum, a centurion approached Jesus with a plea for his paralyzed servant. Despite the cultural and social barriers, this Roman centurion demonstrated remarkable humility by seeking Jesus’ help. His plea reveals a deep concern for his servant and a recognition of Jesus’ authority to bring healing.

Faith Beyond Conventional Limits:
The centurion’s faith is truly extraordinary. He understands the authority Jesus carries, not just as a healer but as one who operates under divine authority. In his humility, the centurion acknowledges that a mere spoken word from Jesus is enough to bring healing. His faith transcends the conventional understanding of physical presence and displays an unwavering trust in the power of Jesus’ spoken word.

Jesus Marvels at Great Faith:
Jesus, in response to the centurion’s faith, marvels and declares, “I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” This statement is significant as it underscores the value of authentic, unwavering faith. The centurion’s faith, grounded in a deep understanding of authority and humility, stands out as exemplary.

Today’s Blessings:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart inspired by the centurion’s great faith. Help me to approach You with humility, recognizing Your authority over every aspect of my life. May my faith transcend conventional limits, trusting in Your power and the spoken word of Jesus. Like the centurion, let my faith marvel Jesus, bringing glory to Your name. In moments of doubt, strengthen my faith, and help me to rest in the assurance that Your word is enough. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
